Compliance to post-exposure prophylaxis among patients attending anti-rabies vaccination clinic in a tertiary health care centre in central India: a cross sectional study

Background: Rabies is a fatal but vaccine-preventable disease. Prevention of rabies in exposed individuals possible by providing them with the proper post-exposure prophylaxis. This study aims to assess compliance prophylaxis animal bite cases and factors associated it. Methods: A cross sectional was conducted between September 2022 November using predesigned, pretested proforma interview 300 patients attending anti-rabies vaccination clinic tertiary health care centre central India. Results: Majority 268 (89.3%) suffered category 3 32 (10.7%) 2 bite. 125 (41.7%) washed wound water, soap applied antiseptic. 234 (78%) completed their last dose vaccine (ARV) while Immunoglobulin (RIG) seen 167 (63.3%) all requiring Out who took Equine RIG, 7 (4.5%) showed hypersensitivity reactions. Significant association found ARV type status after 10 days; RIG gender, socio-economic status, wound. Conclusions: Compliance our 78% 63.3% respectively. Major reason for poor price immunoglobulin. Health education regarding significance needed among population.
